教宗聖額我略一世（聖師）
聖人在公元540年左右出生於羅馬。初任職羅馬總督；後棄俗隱修，晉陞執事，奉命出使君士坦丁堡。590年9月3日被選為伯多祿繼任人，處事賢明，以堅強的信德傳揚福音，照顧窮人；並派遣傳教士到英倫傳道，克盡司牧聖職。他曾發揚教會禮儀生活，整理拉丁聖樂；同時有關倫理學及神學著作甚多。
聖人是西方最後一位教父。他與聖奧思定、聖安博，及聖熱羅尼莫（葉理諾），同為拉丁教會四大聖師。聖人於604年3月12日安逝。
聖額我略一世、聖良一世，及聖尼各老一世，皆因他們的功績，同稱偉大的教宗。
集禱經
天主，你以仁慈照顧你的子民，以愛心管理我們；求你俯聽教宗聖額我略的轉求，把智慧之神，賦予管理教會的牧人，使他們明智地帶領羊群，在聖德的道路上邁進，好使羊群和牧者，都一同獲享永恆的歡樂。因你的聖子、我們的主耶穌基督，他和你及聖神，是唯一天主，永生永王。亞孟。
Saint Gregory the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church
St. Gregory (540-604) abandoned his position in the Roman government to become a monk and used his wealth to found six monasteries, meanwhile serving as a papal legate to Constantinople. When elected the Pope, he instituted liturgical reforms and organized missions; due to him, missionaries, missionaries were first sent to England.
Collect
O God, who care for your people with gentleness and rule them in love, through the intercession of Pope Saint Gregory, endow, we pray, with a spirit of wisdom those to whom you have given authority to govern, that the flourishing of a holy flock may become the eternal joy of the shepherds. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
